"To make music is to serve the strings: to create a beautiful, resonant tone; to sing with ones heart and the living spirit of music." -- Shinichi Suzuki
Teaching Violin and Viola to Students of All Ages
Ann Bur Studio for Violin and Viola welcomes students beginning at age 5. Students include beginners, those returning to the instrument after an absence, and students whose families are seeking a friendlier approach to music instruction.
Ann teaches in conjunction with the Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis, Cyprus School of Music and the Arts in Burnsville and the Farmington Music Academy. For students in the Western suburbs, she teaches through the Westonka Community Education program. We offer a FREE trial lesson at our Minneapolis and Burnsville studios. Teaching Philosophy Stringed instruments are challenging. Learning them requires real interest and commitment. But Ann also believes wholeheartedly that learning a stringed instrument should be fun. She strives to make lessons comfortable, positive, and friendly. Yet students are "pushed" in the right ways, when Ann and the families agree they are ready to be pushed. Our Approach Ann Bur Studio teaches using the Suzuki Method. Her commitment to keeping the experience heartfelt and fun means she adapts her approach on an individual basis; tailoring curriculum and lesson plans to the personalities (and schedules!) of her busy students and their families. Need to rent an instrument? Ann recommends several local music shops with rental programs. |
