About Ann
Ann Bur has been teaching and performing violin and viola for more than 20 years.
A violist and violinist since childhood, Ann earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Lawrence University in 1987, later adding a certificate in Suzuki Pedagogy from the University of Minnesota. After a career in the financial services industry, Ann returned to her passion for music, beginning as a teacher with the Minnesota Valley School of Music in 2001. Following the Minnesota Valley school's closing in 2008 due to the founder's retirement, Ann launched her own practice, teaching both from her home-based studio and through other Twin Cities-based music schools.
Ann has been a performer with the Kenwood Symphony Orchestra since 1989, holding the role of co-president in 2000-2001.
Ann is mother to three daughters, the youngest of whom played violin for over a year.
